Troubleshooting

If you experience trouble with your camera, first check the following items. Should
your camera still not operate properly after you have made these checks, consult your
Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility. If code displays (C:ss:ss)
appear on the LCD screen or on the finder, the self-diagnosis display function is
working (page 63).
Symptom
Your camera does not
work.
Your camera cannot
record images.
The picture is noisy.
The picture is too dark.

Cause and/or Solution
• You are not using an "InfoLITHIUM" battery pack.
t Use an "InfoLITHIUM" battery pack (page 8).
• The floppy disk is not inserted properly.
t Eject the disk, and insert it again (page 14).
• The battery level is too low. (The
appears.)
t Charge the battery pack (page 9).
• The AC power adaptor is not connected securely.
t Connect it securely to the DC IN jack and a wall
outlet (mains) (page 9, 11).
• The malfunction occurs inside the camera.
t Turn off the power, and turn on after one
minute, then check that the camera works
properly.
• The PLAY/STILL/MOVIE selector is set to PLAY.
t Set it to MOVIE or STILL (page 15, 21).
• No floppy disk has been inserted into your camera.
t Insert a floppy disk (page 14).
• The tab on the disk is set to the non-recording
position.
t Set it to the recording position (page 14).
• Your camera is placed near a TV or other
equipment that uses strong magnets.
t Move your camera away from the TV, etc.
• You are shooting a subject with a light source
behind the subject.
t Adjust the exposure (page 41).
• The brightness of the LCD screen is too low.
t Adjust the brightness of the LCD screen
(page 16).
