4. STARTING PROCEDURE DANGER ALL FUELS ARE FLAMMABLE Fuel and defuel in a well-ventilated area. Allow the engine to cool completely before refuelling. This machine runs on a 2 Stroke Fuel / Oil Mixture of 40:1 Remove the fuel cap and fill with a 2 stroke fuel/oil mix. DO NOT overfill.
Move the ignition switch to the ON (I) position. Place the machine on flat level ground and slowly pull the recoil start handle until you feel resistance. Then pull the recoil handle swiftly until the engine starts. DO NOT allow the recoil handle to snap back, return it to the start position slowly. COLD START: As the engine begins to warm, move the choke lever DOWN to the open position to allow the engine to run smoothly.

Page 25
GRASS TRIMMING Choose the correct cutting attachment for the job. Always remember that the tip of the line does the cutting. You will achieve better results by not forcing the line in to the cutting area. Allow the unit to trim at its own pace. Hold the unit so the head is off the ground and is tilted about 20 degrees towards the sweep direction.
Page 26
6.13 When the line becomes short, lightly tap the head on the ground while running the engine at full throttle. Each time the head is bumped, the line advances about 1” (25mm). 6.14 For better effect, tap the head on bare ground or hard soil. GRASS TRIMMING 6.15 Use the front left side for cutting.
Page 27
6.28 Kickback is a result of power tool misuse and/or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided by taking proper precautions. 6.29 Maintain a firm grip on the machine and position your body and arm to allow you to resist kickback forces.
Page 28
CHAINSAW 6.43 The saw chain must be lubricated at all times. Before starting work find a clear area, run the chainsaw at medium power and visually check for oil scatter. 6.44 The chain oil flow can be altered by inserting a screwdriver into the adjustment screw on the underside of the chainsaw and adjusting the oil flow accordingly to your work conditions.
Page 29
6.54 Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the guide bar rapidly back towards the operator or pinching the guide bar making it become stuck in the cut. Stop the saw immediately, remove the HT lead and use a wedge to release the guide bar from the pinch point.
7. MAINTENANCE CAUTION Always refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Only qualified persons should attempt to maintain or repair this machine. Only use manufacturer recommended parts.
Page 31
AIR FILTER NOTE Never let the engine run without an air filter being installed. A dirty air filter element will affect the engine performance, increase fuel consumption and make the machine difficult to start. If you notice a loss of power, check the air filter. If the air filter is damaged, you MUST replace it.
Page 32
SPARK PLUG NOTE The spark plug must be tightened with a torque of 12-15Nm otherwise the engine may overheat causing damage. Only remove the spark plug after the engine has been turned off and allowed to cool. Remove the spark plug HT lead cap. Using the plug spanner provided, undo the spark plug and remove.
Page 33
CHAINSAW 7.15 Dismount the guide bar and check the oiling port for clogging. 7.16 Remove sawdust and debris from the groove in the guide bar. 7.17 Grease the nose sprocket from the grease point on the tip of the chain bar. 7.18 Reverse the chain bar occasionally to prevent partial wear.
Page 34
7.24 Place the chain file on the cutter and push straight forward. Keep the file position as illustrated. 7.25 After every cutter has been set, check the depth gauge and file to the proper level as illustrated. 7.26 Make sure every cutter has the same length and edge angles as illustrated below.
HEDGE TRIMMER 7.27 Clean the hedge trimmer blades after every use. They must be kept clean of tree sap and moisture. 7.28 Keep the blades lubricated with a silicone based grease. 7.29 Inspect the cutting surface of the teeth and sharpen accordingly.
