Label Variations and the Top-of-Form Sensor

The pressure blocks are set correctly when they are evenly spaced
across the width of the media. The proper setting for the right
pressure block is with its pointer positioned on the right edge of the
media in use. The right pressure block is adjusted by turning the
Lead Screw Knob located in the right side of the pivoting deck. If
required, it may be moved by turning the Right Pressure Pad
Adjustment Knob.
To check the correctness of the pressure block positions, print a
gray test pattern (see the DIAGNOSTICS/Printer Tests menu item).
The pressure blocks should be positioned to obtain a uniform
printing density across the media. In most cases, only the right
pressure block will need adjustment.
Label Variations and the Top-of-Form Sensor
Your printer is equipped with a sensor that is used to establish the
Top-of-Form position. Depending on the type of media used, the
sensor will either "see through" the label liner, index hole or notch in
the media ( Transmissive mode) or detect a black horizontal stripe
on the media with reflective label backing ( Reflective mode). In the
first case, the Transmissive option must be selected under the Gap
Sense item in the MEDIA CONTROL Main Menu. When
Transmissive is selected, the Top-of-Form position is based on the
trailing edge of the gap, notch, or hole. In the second case the
Reflective option must be selected under the Gap Sense item in the
MEDIA CONTROL Main Menu. When Reflective is selected, the
Top-of-Form position is based on the leading edge of the black
stripe.

Top-of-Form Sensor Horizontal Adjustment

In order to accurately detect the gap, hole, notch or narrow width
black stripe, the Top-of-Form sensor can be moved along the width
of the media from the inner media edge to within .65 inches from
the maximum media width or the right side. The position of the
sensor is changed by using the handle at the back of the sensor to
slide the sensor to the desired position. The actual location of the
sensor is indicated by the notch located in the center of the sensor,
visible when the pivoting deck is in the open position.
