Panel Tone

This section describes the different types of beep patterns.
Beep pattern
Single short beep.
Short, then long beep.
Two long beeps.
Five long beeps.
Five long beeps repeated
four times.
Five short beeps repeated
five times.
• You cannot stop the beeping. If covers are opened and closed repeatedly when clearing paper jams
or adding toner, beeping might continue even after the machine has returned to normal status.
• You can specify to enable or disable panel tone. For details, see Panel Key Sound in "System Settings",
Network and System Settings Guide
Meaning
Panel/screen input
accepted.
Panel/screen input rejected.
Machine is ready for use.
Soft alert.
Soft alert.
Strong alert.

Cause
A key on the control or display panels
was pressed.
An invalid key was pressed key on the
control or display panels, or the entered
password was incorrect.
The machine has fully warmed up or has
revived from Energy Saver mode and is
ready for use.
The initial screen returns when the
machine goes into Energy Saver mode.
A paper tray is empty.
The machine requires user attention
because paper has jammed, the toner
needs replenishing, or other problems
have occurred.
