Downloading projects to the CPUs

Introduction
You need to download the project data to the CPU. Download either offline using the
SIMATIC memory card or over an online connection from the PG/PC/HMI device to a CPU.
The complete project data (all configuration data and the complete user program) can only
be downloaded when a CPU is in STOP operating state.
Note
Simultaneous online access to both CPUs
It is not possible to access both CPUs simultaneously online from STEP 7. You can access
either the primary CPU or the backup CPU.
Options for downloading
You have the following options for downloading project data to the S7-1500R/H redundant
system:
In the STOP system state, download:
● The complete project data to the primary CPU
● The complete project data to the backup CPU
In the RUN-Solo system state, download:
● The user program to the primary CPU
● The complete project data to the backup CPU
If you select the S7-1500R/H system in the project tree in STEP 7 and run "Download to
device", the operating system downloads the project data by default to the primary CPU. In
the SYNCUP system state, the project data is then transferred from the primary CPU to the
backup CPU.
