4.4 Carbon Monoxide (CO)

Carbon monoxide is invisible, tasteless, odorless,
and is produced by all engines, heating and cooking
appliances. Common sources of CO on Back Cove
30 are engines, generator (optional), and Espar
heater (optional). A slight build-up of carbon
monoxide in the human body over several hours
causes headaches, nausea and other symptoms
similar to food poisoning, motion sickness or the flu.
High concentrations can be fatal within minutes.
Exhaust
from
engines
contains carbon monoxide.
Carbon Monoxide can kill you.
Open all doors, windows, and hatches to let fresh
air circulate, when running engine, generator or
burning any fuel when boat is anchored, moored
or docked.
Sleeping on boat requires a operating Carbon
Monoxide detection system in each sleeping
location.

Carbon Monoxide Monitor

Your Back Cove 30 has a carbon monoxide (CO)
fire
monitor mounted in the cabin. The CO monitor is an
electronic instrument that detects CO.
It is extremely important that you become familiar
with your CO monitor and its functions. Read and
understand the CO monitor information and operating
instructions in the accessory manual.

4.5 Load Capacity

Back Cove 30's exported to Europe or Australia
displays a capacity plate located near the helm and
indicates maximum weight and number on persons
your boat can handle under calm sea conditions. Do
not exceed the load capacities stated. The number
of people on board must be reduced if you go out in
poor weather and rough water.
Regardless of the information displayed on the
capacity plate it is the operator's responsibility to
ensure proper loading of the vessel. Use common
sense and sound judgment when placing equipment
and/or passengers in your boat.
• Do not load to capacity in poor weather or rough
water.
• The number of seats does not indicate how
many people a boat can carry.
• Above idle speed, all passengers should be
seated on the seats provided.
When engine is running, keep passengers away
from areas not designed for riding, such as bow,
gunwales and swim platform.
