Bluetooth Device Pairing Removal

There are three different ways to remove the pairing connection between an MSA G1 SCBA and a corre-
sponding Bluetooth device (Radio or Gas Detector). Pairing should only be removed when a user wants to
ensure the existing G1 SCBA and Bluetooth device do not connect during the next startup or if the G1 SCBA
needs to be paired with another Bluetooth device.
The three options for pairing removal are:
(1)
Removing the battery on the G1 SCBA. This action will clear ALL Bluetooth pairing history stored within
the G1 SCBA.
(2)
Pairing a new or different radio or gas detector by repeating the pairing processes detailed in sections
3 and 4. This will remove the previous Bluetooth device pairing information from the G1 SCBA and the
G1 will now only work with the most recently paired Bluetooth device.
(3)
Creating a Reset Bonding tag in the A2 application and scanning the SCBA with the RFID tag.
It is highly recommended to clear the pairing of the radio and the SCBA at the same
time. Do not clear the pairing information from only the SCBA and not the radio. Refer
to section 5.1 for detailed instructions on removing the radio pairing information.
There is no reason to ever clear the pairing from an MSA Gas detector itself. Removing
the pairing from the G1 is all that is needed when removing a Gas Detector - SCBA
pairing.
The third option is needed if the G1 SCBA has been customized to maintain Bluetooth
pairings across battery removals. This customized setting has to be done through the
A2 application and requires the creation of a Bluetooth Pairing Save tag (refer to
section 5.1). The factory default setting is for pairing information to clear when the
battery is removed so this option is only necessary if the SCBA has been specifically
customized to maintain the pairing during battery removal.

Maintaining Pairing Information

The G1 SCBA factory default setting is for all pairing information to be cleared from the SCBA every time
the battery is removed from the SCBA. This is done so that if the SCBA will routinely be paired with multiple
radios or gas detectors that it is easy to clear pre-existing pairing data.
The G1 SCBA can be configured so that pairing information is retained across battery removals. This is
most appropriate for use cases where the SCBA will be paired to a single radio or gas detector for a long
period. The procedure for configuring the SCBA to retain pairing information is as follows:
(1)
Access the A2 Software application and verify that the latest version of SW is being used.
(2)
