Operation with MSA Gas Detectors

4.1

Enabling Bluetooth Functionality with MSA Gas Detectors

(1)
Power on the MSA gas detector per the device instructions.
(2)
Wait for the sensor warm-up phase to complete.
Due to the device calibration and start up times, MSA recommends powering on the gas detector
device first. Allow the gas detector to completely startup before moving on the next step.
The device is ready for pairing once the Blue LED begins to blink quickly.

Power on the SCBA.
IMPORTANT!
The remaining pairing steps detailed below must be completed within 8-10 minutes of
the G1 SCBA being powered on. If the pairing process is not initiated within 8-10 minutes of the
G1 SCBA being powered on, the steps below must be repeated.

Place the G1 into RFID mode:
a) Access the RFID tag reader on the G1 SCBA by pressing and holding both of the 2 GREEN control
module buttons until the RFID icon displays on the control module

Place the RFID chip of the Gas Detector onto the RFID
reader of the SCBA.
a) The Gas Detector RFID chip location differs depending
on which model is in use.
b) The Altair 5X RFID tag is located under the MSA logo
on the front of the device.
A green RFID icon will display on the G1 control module
along with an audible double beep to confirm that the
RFID tag was read successfully.
(6)
Accept the pairing request when it is displayed on the gas
detector.
The random number appearing below the pairing request
is not needed and can be ignored.
