Connection

You need access points to
access the Internet for example to
• send/receive e-mails (p. 31)
• send/receive multimedia
messages (p. 29)
• use WAP applications (p. 44)
• activate modem operation
To connect to an access point, a data
connection is need. There may be ac-
cess points predefined by your pro-
vider. Otherwise your provider will
supply you with further information
on this.

A list of default or defined access
points may be shown. Select an ac-
cess point from the list or define a
new one.
Note
In order to setup your phone for WAP, MMS
and Email, you can use the SMS Service.
We recommend that you contact your net-
work operator to send you the configuration
message.
Alternatively, you can go to
www.my-siemens.com/customercare
and Siemens will send you the configura-
tion message.
If you open the message and save it, the re-
ceived settings are automatically used as
Preferred
connection, see Messages,
p. 38.

New access point

Use default settings
If you want to use default entries.
Use existing settings
If you want to change an existing en-
try to create a new access point, se-
lect it from the list.
There are three types of connection
available:
GSM data call
Data transmission rate up to
14.4 kbps.
To configure this access point:
• Connection name: your choice
• Data bearer: GSM data
• Access point name: from provider
• User name: from provider if required
• Prompt password: choose Yes if you
want to key it in every logon
• Password: from provider if required
• Authentication: normal/Secure
• Gateway IP address: from provider
• Homepage: address of WAP service or
multimedia messaging centre
• Session mode: e.g. Permanent
• Connection security: from provider
• Data call type: analogue, ISDN v.110,
ISDN v. 120
• Maximum data speed:
automatic, 9600, 14400
