Chapter 5. Field replaceable or upgrade units

A number of components can be replaced or upgraded in the field.

Replacement parts

Contact IBM Support for replacement parts for the appliance.
The following customer serviceable parts are available:
v Power supply module
v Operating system drive
v Data drives
The following customer serviceable upgrade units are available:
v Optical modules (SFP+/QSFP)
v Data Drives

Replace external front components

NOTE: If adding drives to a partially populated system, remove the drive-carrier blanks in slots 7
through 12, and replace with drives included in the upgrade pack. Drives must be installed in multiples
of six and no slots can be unpopulated with either a drive carrier blank or data drive.
Replace or adding a data drive
1. Press the release button on the drive carrier. This action extends the carrier handle, as shown in the
following figure.

2. Pull the drive carrier out of the chassis by using the handle.
