Chapter 4: Setup

Chapter 4: Setup

4.1 Introduction to instrument grouping

When a Remote Keypad is first installed, all instruments respond simultaneously
to the Remote Keypad button presses.
Although this simultaneous operation may be suitable for installations with a
small number of instruments, in larger installations, it is often more convenient to
organize instruments into groups.
Once a Remote Keypad and instruments have been grouped, the up and down
keys are used to select individual instruments. An instrument can then be
operated remotely using the appropriate Remote Keypad buttons.
You can create up to eight standard instrument and eight ST80 MaxiView
instrument groups:
• Each group can have up to eight instruments.
• Each group must have at least one Remote Keypad grouped to it.
• Each Remote Keypad can only be grouped with one ST80 MaxiView and one
standard instrument group.
• Each instrument in a group has a unique alphanumeric identity (e.g. A1,
where A defines the group and 1 the instrument sequence number within the
group). Standard instruments are assigned group letters from A to H. ST80
MaxiView instruments are assigned group letters from J to Q. Ungrouped
instruments have a dash (-) in place of a group letter.
• The instrument sequence number range is from 1 to 8.

4.2 Grouping standard instruments

To define a group of standard (110 mm) instruments:
1. At any Remote Keypad, press and hold the lower
onds. All the standard instruments will enter group setup mode, with the
selected instrument showing a remote indication, as follows:
• On selected ST80 instruments, the display shows reverse video (white on
• On selected ST60 digital instruments, a REMOTE indicator is displayed.
• On selected ST60 analogue instruments, either one or both of the TRUE /
black)
MAG or TRUE/APP indicators flash on and off.
