• Using the Brocade VDX 6940-144S as a spine device and Brocade VDX 6940-36Q as a leaf device
in medium-size VCS deployments. As a spine device, the Brocade VDX 6940-144S can uplink to a
core device, such as the Brocade VDX 8770, using its 40 GbE ports in 40 GbE mode. The fixed 10
GbE ports can downlink through a Brocade VDX 6940-36Q, functioning as a leaf device, to edge
nodes, such as servers.
