    (17.22 in.) wide. One rack unit is equal to 4.45 cm (1.75 in.). Plan to install the Brocade VDX 8770-8 with the port side facing the air-intake aisle. Airflow is from the port side of the chassis to the fan side.

    6. Ensure that the air temperature on the air intake side is less than 40°C (104°F) during operation. Power specifications Power for the Brocade VDX 8770-8 can be supplied with either AC- or DC-based 3000 watt power supplies. The Brocade VDX 8770-8 has room for up to eight 12V DC output power supplies. Table 3 shows the basic power specifications for each power supply.

  • Page 38 Establishing a serial connection to the Brocade VDX 8770-8 The serial port is located on the port side of the Brocade VDX 8770-8. The switch uses an RJ-45 connector for the serial port. An RJ-45 to DB9 adaptor is also provided with the Brocade VDX 8770-8.

Verify that the Brocade VDX 8770-8 is powered on and that POST is complete by verifying that all power LED indicators on the management, switch fabric, and line card modules display a steady green light.
