Fault diagnosis

If a fault is found in the system, use the troubleshooting
table to look for the cause.
Contact Eaton if you cannot find the cause.
If correction of the fault might lead to dangerous
situations, all necessary steps must be taken to
limit these dangers to a minimum. You should
contact Eaton if work on the primary part of the
installation is required.
All operations must be carried out by or under
the supervision of qualified persons.

Troubleshooting table

Symptom
58-pole secondary plug cannot
be removed.
Earthing fault.
Earthing switch cannot be
switched on.
Door cannot be closed.
No auxiliary voltage.
High contact resistance in
earthing circuit.
High temperature at cable
connections.
Auxiliary voltage often interrupted
by protection device.
Switch cannot be operated.
WARNING
Possible cause
Withdrawable unit is in the
'Service/Connected' position.
Poor insulation.
Withdrawable unit is in
'Service/Connected' position.
Locking coil in operation.
Transport truck has not been removed.
Withdrawable unit not correctly inserted
Auxiliary voltage protection tripped.
58 pin auxiliary socket not connected
Loose bolted joint.
Loose bolted joint at cable connection.
Poor insulation.
Switch not in 'TEST' or
'Service/Connected' position.
Hand crank has not been removed.

6.3.1

What to do in the event of a fault

Always make the installation safe if a fault occurs.
Isolate the installation if necessary.
Simple faults in the secondary part of the installation
(such as defective signal lamps) can and may be
repaired by the user's own authorised personnel.
Faults in the primary part of the installation and serious
faults in the secondary part must always be reported to
Eaton.
Mechanical adjustments must be made by Eaton.
Every fault and all operations carried out must be
recorded in the logbook.
What to do:
 Put the unit into 'TEST' position.
 Check insulation.
 Put switch into 'TEST' or 'INSERT/
WITHDRAWN' position.
 Check interlocks;
 Check connection conditions for the relevant
earthing switch.
 Remove the truck.
 Ensure unit is correctly inserted
 Correct problem and switch on again.
 Connect the 58 pin auxiliary socket
 Check bolted joint for correct tightening
torque.
 Clean suspect connections;
 Tighten bolt securely.
 Check bolted joint for correct tightening
torque.
 Clean suspect connections.
 Tighten bolt securely.
 Check insulation.
 Put switch into correct position.
 Remove hand crank.
