The degree of protection is a standardized specification for electrical equip-
ment that describes the protection against the ingress of foreign objects
and water (for example, IP20).
Sensor for detection of the angular position of a rotating component. In-
stalled on/in a motor, the encoder shows the angular position of the rotor.
Discrepancy between a computed, observed, or measured value or condi-
tion and the specified or theoretically correct value or condition.
Classification of errors into groups. The different error classes allow for spe-
cific responses to errors, for example by severity.
Factory settings when the product is shipped.
If a fatal error occurs, the product is no longer able to control the motor so
that the power stage must be immediately disabled.
Fault is a state that can be caused by an error.
A function used to restore the drive to an operational state after a detected
error is cleared by removing the cause of the error so that the error is no
longer active.
Device data and values that can be read and set (to a certain extent) by the
user.
Discrete level used to specify the ability of safety-related parts of control
systems to perform a safety function under foreseeable conditions (EN ISO
13849-1).
Fieldbus interface as per EIA-422/485 Bus Description, which enables serial
data transmission with multiple devices.
If a safe state fault is detected, the safety option goes into safe state. This
includes faults related to integrity of hardware and firmware.
