Arrow icon
This is an arrow you click on to increase or
decrease numeric values.
Pop-up menu
This is a text field with a single right arrow
which, when you click on it, displays a
submenu.
Applying the changes you've made
The way you apply the changes you've specified
depends on the type of dialogue box. Some
dialogue boxes have one or more buttons at the
bottom for you to click on (such as Apply, or OK)
; others take effect as soon as you click on an
arrow or radio icon.
Some dialogue boxes only have a writable menu
option (they're usually Save as: boxes). There are
four ways of applying the name you supply in
such a dialogue box:

click on the name
•
press Return
•
click on OK
•
drag the file's icon from the dialogue box to a
directory display.

Cancelling a dialogue box
You can cancel a dialogue box by clicking on the
Close icon (if it has one) or the Cancel button.
