3. Specification of HVI power Conductors ® Design of HVI power Conductors ® power Conductors are high-voltage-resistant, insulated down conductors with a semiconducti- ® ve outer sheath (see Fig. 1). They are typically used as insulated down conductors for lightning protection systems to maintain the separation distance in accordance with IEC 62305-3.
Technical data Outer sheath black, RAL 9011 Equivalent separation ≤ 0.9 m distance of the Solid material ≤ 1.8 m power Conductor ® Outer diameter 27 mm Minimum bending radius 270 mm Permanent temperature range (fixed installation) -30° to +70°C Ambient temperature and conductor temperature -5°...
HVI power Conductor system can be found in our brochures DS210/E and DS212/E, our ® Lightning Protection / Earthing main catalogue or at www.dehn-international.com. As a basic principle, all HVI power Conductors can be shortened, but not extended! ®...
Pre-assembled HVI®power Conductors for installation inside the supporting tube Pre-assembled HVI power Conductor for installation inside the supporting tube are used to directly ® connect the air-termination system of the external lightning protection system to the earth-termination system, e.g. isolated air-termination system of a mobile phone antenna with HVI power Conductor ®...
Pre-assembled HVI power Conductors for installation outside the supporting tube ® Pre-assembled HVI power Conductors for installation outside the supporting tube are used to di- ® rectly connect the air-termination system of the external lightning protection system to the earth-ter- mination system, e.g.
power long - on a reel ® power long Conductors are delivered on a disposable reel or are cut to length. It must be ob- ® served that the connection set required for installation is not included in delivery. Consequently, the connection set and the required EB connection element(s) must be ordered separately depending on the requirements, type and configuration of the installation (see Table 5).

power Conductors for installation inside / outside the supporting ® tube The supporting tubes in which the HVI power Conductors are integrated house an EB element in the ® form of a spring element. The head of the supporting tube is mechanically sealed and thus water-proof. For static reasons, spanning cables over several supporting tubes to split the current is not possible in every situation! Please contact us for more detailed information.

Mounting the head piece / connection element To mount the head piece / connection element, the insulation of HVI power Conductors must be ® removed by 35 mm. After removing the insulation, the head piece / connection element is mounted on the conductor ends of the HVI power Conductor.
Wrapping a heat shrinkable sleeve around the head piece / connection element Applying heat shrinkable sleeves After mounting the head piece / connection element to the HVI power Conductor, a heat shrinkable ® sleeve must be wrapped around the relevant mounting areas to protect them from mechanical, en- vironmental or chemical influences.
6. Installation Installing HVI power Conductors in the supporting tube ® Before installing the supporting tube, insert and fix the head piece of the pre-assembled HVI power ® Conductor into the supporting tube and fix it (see also page Figure 5., page 20). The following steps must be observed: Unscrew the locking screw of the head piece (M8 x 25 mm) at the head of the supporting tube.
