Hercules 1. Safety Instructions FOR SAFE AND EFFICIENT OPERATION Be careful with heat and extreme temperature. Avoid exposing it to direct to rays of sun. Operate only between 41°F/5°C and 95°F/35°C. Keep away from humidity, water and dust. Do not place the use in a location with high humidity or lots of dust. It is ideal to use the Hercules away from such equipment: Transformer motor, tuner, TV set and amplifier. Avoid placing on un‐stable location Select a level and stable location to avoid vibration. Do not use chemicals or volatile liquids for cleaning Use a dry cloth to wipe off dust, or a wet soft cloth for stubborn dirt. NO USER SERVICABLE PARTS INSIDE. If unit is out of service, please contact your point of purchase. If any troubles arise, remove the power plug and contact your ShowPro representative for repair. Do not open the machine by yourself, it might result a danger of electric shock. Take care with the power cable. Never pull the power cable to remove the plug from the receptacle, be sure to hold the plug. Hercules 1.1 Power Connection AC Power This product has an auto‐ranging power supply that can work with an input voltage range of 100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz. AC Plug Connection Wire AC Live Brown AC Neutral Blue AC Ground Green/Yellow Battery Charge Notes ∙ Recharge the battery within three days from last use. ∙ Recharge the battery to full capacity before storing this product. ∙ For best results, charge the battery in a temperature between 0 ºC and 35 ºC. ∙ When charging the battery, keep the product at no less than 1 m from any open flame or hot plate. ∙ When charging the battery inside the road case charger, keep the road cases cover open. ∙ When charging ensure there is sufficient airflow in front of the air vent. ∙ Always charge the battery with the product in an upright position. ∙ Do not charge the battery for more than 24 hours. ∙ Perform a full discharge/recharge cycle every three months. ∙ Indicators inside the road case will show the status of charging. Hercules 3. Remove blown fuse and replace with a good fuse of the same type and rating. 4. Screw the fuse holder cap back in place and reconnect power. 1.2 Overhead Rigging This item must be built in a way that it can hold 10 times more of its weight for 1 hour without causing any damage. The installation must be secured with a secondary safety attachment. The Safety attachment has to be constructed in a way that no part of the installation can fall. When rigging, de‐rigging or servicing the fixture ensure that the area below is secure. Before putting the device into operation, the installation must be approved by an expert. The operator has to make sure that safety‐relating and machine‐technical installations are approved by a skilled person once a year. IMPORTANT! OVERHEAD RIGGING REQUIRES EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE. Including (but not limited to) calculating working load limits, installation material being used, and periodic safety inspection of all installation material and the projector. If you lack these qualifications, do not attempt the installations yourself, but instead use a professional structural rigger. Improper installation can result in bodily injury and/or damage to property. Use only professional trussing system if the item is to be lowered from the ceiling or high joists. Hercules DANGER OF FIRE! When installing the device, make sure there is no highly‐flammable material (decoration articles, etc.) within a distance of min. 0.5m. Mount the projector with the mounting bracket to your trussing system using an appropriate clamp. For overhead use, always install a rated safety ‐ wire that can hold at least 10 times the weight of the fixture. You must only use rated safety – wire with quick links with screw cap. Pull the rated safety ‐ wire through the hole in the mounting bracket and over the trussing system or a safe fixation spot. Insert the end in the quick link and tighten the safety screw. The maximum drop distance must never exceed 20cm A safety ‐ wire which has already held the strain of a fall or which is defective must not be used again. IMPORTANT! Hercules 1.3 DMX Connection DMX Linking the Hercules will work with a DMX controller using a 5‐pin DMX serial connection. DMX Connection the Hercules uses a 5‐pin DMX data connection for its DMX personalities: 4 Ch, 6 Ch, 10Ch, HSI and HSV. See the User Manual for information about connecting and configuring the product for DMX operation. Master/Slave Connection the Hercules uses the DMX data connection for its Master/Slave mode. Master/Slave mode not available in wireless operation. Wireless Operation The Hercules can operate in W‐DMX™ mode up to 300 m (900 ft) from the W‐DMX™ transmitter. The W‐DMX™ receiver in the Hercules must be paired with the W‐ DMX™ transmitter for wireless operation. Initial Setup 1. Turn the W‐DMX™ transmitter on. 2. Connect the W‐DMX™ transmitter to a DMX controller. 3. Place the Hercules within 300 m from the W‐DMX™ transmitter. 4. Disconnect any DMX cable from the Hercules. 5. Turn the Hercules on. Configuration 1. From the Hercules’s control panel, go to DMX Address. 2. Select the start address, as with any other DMX compatible product. 3. Go to Wireless Setting > Receive. 4. Select On. (The Signal Strength Indicator will show a ? in front of the bars) 5. Press the reset button on the W‐DMX™ transmitter. Hercules Product Pairing If the Hercules has already been paired with the W‐DMX™ transmitter, the Signal Strength Indicator in the middle of the LCD screen will show the strength of the signal. In this case, the Hercules is ready to work in Wireless mode. Pairing the Hercules and a new W‐DMX™ transmitter 1. From the Hercules’s control panel, go to Wireless Setting. 2. Select Reset. The Signal Strength Indicator on the Hercules will show a ? in front of the bars. 3. From the W‐DMX™ transmitter, press <RESET> (the Signal Indicator on the transmitter will flash). 4. Once the transmitter has found the Hercules, the Signal indicator on the W‐DMX™ transmitter will illuminate solid. 5. The Signal Strength Indicator in the middle of the LCD screen on the Hercules will show the strength of the signal. Storage Notes ∙ Always store the product in an upright position (≤ 10º tilt). ∙ Recharge the battery to full capacity before storing the product. ∙ Store charged product(s) in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight. W‐DMX™ operation can be interrupted or inhibited by liquid masses between the transmitter and receiver such as water, snow, or people. Hercules 1.4 Cleaning and Maintenance Please make sure that safety‐relating and machine‐technical installations are inspected by a skilled person once a year. Make sure before installing that all screws are tightly connected and not corroded. There must be no deformations on the housings, fixations and installations spots Any defects on the electronics, power cables or housing must be repaired for safe use. If the exterior of the unit is going to be cleaned, please use moist, lint free cloths. Never use alcohol or solvents. The Cooling fan must be cleaned monthly and check to ensure it is free of obstructions. To clean the interior of the device please use a vacuum cleaner or an air jet, however we recommend cleaning the lenses weekly to ensure the best output from your unit. 9 ...
