FILL (1, 2)
1. Fill-in
By pressing one of these keys during arrangement
play, you can insert two types of fill-in.
When a fill is inserted, the LED of the variation that
had been playing will blink.
For some styles, a fill-in can also be used in place of
an intro.
2. Step input
In Backing Sequence mode Step Recording, these
keys let you directly specify the step (note value).

FILL 1 = (16th note)
FILL 2 = (32nd note)

GM (General MIDI)
General MIDI (GM) is a standard specification that
defines a common set of instrumental sounds (pro-
grams) and ways to control the sound (volume set-
tings etc.). Musical data that was created for a GM-
compatible MIDI instrument can be played back on
any GM device to produce essentially the same
musical result.

Guide p.37), Save (☞Reference Guide p.57) and
Convert to SMF (☞Reference Guide p.37) opera-

INTERACTIVE COMP.
(interactive composition)
When this key is pressed, the C-900 will analyze the
melody you play on the keyboard, automatically
determine chords, and play an automatic bass and
accompaniment according to these chords.
There are two ways to use this function: one is in
BACK.SEQ
Arrangement Play mode, where the accompani-
ment will be added simultaneously as you play, and
the other is in Backing Sequence mode, where you
will first record a melody and then have the accom-
paniment added to it. These two methods may
assign chords differently, even to the same melody.

INTRO
This refers to the introduction of a song. The C-900
provides two intros, INTRO 1 and INTRO 2, for
each style.
INTRO1 contains a chord progression.
INTRO2 does not contain a chord progression.
The two INTRO/ENDING 1 and 2 keys located on
the operating panel of the C-900 allow you to add
an intro to your playing.
By pressing an INTRO key before you begin
arrangement play, you can specify whether or not
an intro will be played before variation play begins.

BACK.SEQ
1. By pressing one of these keys before you begin
arrangement play, you can specify whether or not
an intro will be played before variation play begins.
The LED of the selected intro will light while the
intro is playing, and will go out when variation
play begins. Each style has two intros.
If you press the same INTRO key while the intro is
being played, that intro will continue repeating.
This will be canceled when you press another
INTRO key, VARIATION key or a FILL key.
2. If you press one of these keys during arrangement
play, the ending will begin, and play will stop auto-
matically. Each style has two endings.
The LED of the selected ending will continue blink-
ing until play switches to that ending. Once the
ending begins, the LED will stay lit until play ends.
