6. You can input notes one by one to
create musical data
This section explains step recording: the process by which you can enter individual
notes, specifying the pitch, length, and force of each one without recording from the
keyboard.
Of course, this is more time-consuming than directly playing the keyboard, but it is a
way in which people unfamiliar with the keyboard can enter musical data accurately
without having to worry about inaccuracies in timing or wrong notes.
1. Enter Backing Sequence mode.
2. Use the Arrangement Group and Arrangement Select keys located to the
left on the panel to select the arrangement that you wish to use.
3. Use the PAGE + keys to access the Step Recording page.
→ The following display will appear.

This LCD is telling you that a quarter note with a velocity of 90 and a length of 85% of
a quarter note can now be entered at the beginning of the first beat of measure 1.
5. Now input a note into the first beat.
Play the keyboard once. You may play either a single note or a chord.
→ When you release your hand from the keyboard, the following display will
appear.
Note Data (the name of the note)
STEP G4 M001 2:00
The display shows the note you just played. (If you played a chord, one note in that
chord.)
In the above display, a G4 note was played.
You will notice that at the same time, the beat has advanced by one. This means that
you are now ready to enter the next note at the second beat.
