ENDING
This refers to the last part of a song. On the C-900,
each style has two endings; ENDING 1 and END-
ING 2.
ENDING1 is an ending with a chord progression.
ENDING2 is an ending without a chord progres-
sion. Thus, this ending can be used when you wish
to change chords yourself during the ending.
The two operating panel keys INTRO/ENDING 1
and 2 let you add an ending to your song.
During arrangement play, pressing an ENDING
key will cause an ending to be played, and then
play will stop automatically.
ENSEMBLE
If this key has been pressed, a harmony as deter-
mined by the current chord scanning will be added
to the melody that you play on the keyboard.
EVENT EDIT
Musical data recorded in Backing Sequence mode
consists of a large number of instructions which are
used to control the C-900. Such instructions might
be to play a particular note at beat number 'x' of
measure 'y' and hold it for so long, or to switch to
another program at measure 'z.' Each of the instruc-
tions is referred to as an event.
In Backing Sequence mode you can perform very
detailed editing by modifying individual events,
adding new events, or deleting existing events.
The process of editing these events is referred to as
event editing.

F
FADE IN/OUT
If you begin play by pressing this key instead of the
START/STOP key, the playback volume will start
from silence and gradually grow louder.
If you end play by pressing this key instead of the
START/STOP key, the playback volume will gradu-
ally diminish and finally disappear.
FILE
Data used by the C-900 such as programs, arrange-
ments, and backing sequences can be assigned a
name and saved on floppy disk for convenient
management.
In the context of computers, a collection of data
which has been assigned a name in this way is
called a "file."
FILL (fill-in)
A fill-in is a short phrase that is added (often impro-
vised) between melodic sections to "spice up" the
song.
The C-900 has two fill-ins for each style: FILL 1 and
FILL 2. The FILL 1 and 2 keys on the operating
panel let you insert fill-ins into your playing.
For some styles, a fill-in can also be used in place of
an intro.
The Arrangement Play mode's Fill setting can be set
so that when a fill-in is inserted into the playback of
a variation, a different variation will be automati-
cally selected after the fill-in finishes playing.
