TROUBLESHOOTING

Starter motor will not
Check Whether to hear the click
noise from the starter relay when
the starter button is pushed.
No click
Measure he starter relay voltage at
the starter relay connectors
(between Y/B + and B/W - when
the starter button is pushed.
Voltage measured
Check the starter relay.
Starter motor runs, but does not start engine.
Check the CDI unit, ignition coil
and generator, (Refer to opages
6-15 and 16)

Check whether to run the starter
motor when connect the starter
motor terminal to the battery +
terminal directly. (Do not use
thin wire, because a large
amount of current flows.

• Faulty starter motor
• Faulty starter relay
• Loose or disconnected starter motor
lead wire
• Faulty ignition switch
• Faulty starter button
• Poor contact of connector
• Open circuit in wiring harness
• Faulty starter relay
• Faulty CDI unit
• Faulty ignition coil
• Faulty generator
• Open circuit in wiring harness
• Poor contact of connector
• Faulty starter clutch.
