The EMS-830T accommodates up to 16 WorldDSL line-termination unit (LTU) or universal termination unit (UTU) High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line (HDSL) E1 cards with a 75Ω unbalanced input. You can also install one WorldDSL EMS-830T exchange office management unit. W0204-A Figure 1.

    Overview LTPE-UM-3157-01 All wiring for the EMS-830T is on the back of the shelf (see Figure 2). Description 10Base-T port Provides an Ethernet 10Base-T interface for Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) connection. EXT CLK (External Clock) Provides 2 MHz clock reference for HDSL cards (per G.703, paragraph 10). An EMU-83X management unit must be installed to enable this feature.

    To ensure that your equipment does not become damaged, carefully observe the following cautions: If a problem has been isolated to this unit, do not attempt to repair it. The unit's components are not user serviceable and, therefore, must not be replaced. Please return the unit to ADC for repairs.

    LTPE-UM-3157-01 Installation HDSL P AIRS Connect the HDSL pairs to the EMS-830T shelf through the two 50-pin Telco connectors (HDSL 1-8, HDSL 9-16) connectors. See Figure 2 on page 2 for the location of the HDSL connectors. Refer to Table 3 on page 5 Table 4 on page 6 for the HDSL Telco connector pinouts.

    Installation LTPE-UM-3157-01 LARM ELAY IRCUITS Connect alarm relay circuits to the shelf through the Alarm (D25F) connector. See Figure 2 on page 2 for the location of the Alarm connector. Refer to Table 7 below for the Alarm connector pinouts. Table 7.

    LTPE-UM-3157-01 Installation ETWORK ANAGEMENT ERIAL NTERFACE Connect the network management serial-line interface (if used) to the shelf through the D25F RS-485 connector. Figure 2 on page 2 for the location of the D25F RS-485 connector. Refer to Table 8 below for the RS-485 connector pinouts.

    Installation LTPE-UM-3157-01 RIMARY OWER Connect DC power to the shelf through the five-position -48V DC power-terminal strip: Use a flat-blade screwdriver to loosen the screw beneath the -48V connector labeled "A" (see Figure 3 below). Refer to Table 9 for the Power-terminal strip pinouts. Insert the -48 Vdc cable from your primary -48 Vdc power supply, then tighten the screw you loosened in step 1.

    LTPE-UM-3157-01 Installation ACKUP OWER Connect backup DC power to the shelf through the five-position Power-terminal strip: Use a flat-blade screwdriver to loosen the screw beneath the -48V connector labeled "B” (Figure 3 on page 10). Insert the -48 Vdc cable from your primary -48 Vdc power supply, then tighten the screw you loosened in step 1.

    90-day warranty period is, at ADC’s option, either (a) return of the price paid or (b) repair or replace of the software.
