    UNIVERSAL INTERFACE In connection with the universal interface (article no. 1 041 220), all of the special operating features with the standard LCD opera- ting device can be easily installed. Special operating features can also be easily and practically combi- ned.

    EXTERNAL JOYSTICK, CODE 542 The external joystick is of interest if the disabled user is unable to reach the joystick in the operating device or if a carer is to operate the wheelchair.     THUMB-OPERATED JOYSTICK, CODE 536 MEYRA offers custom-made external joysticks with holders for carers. The holder is mounted on the rear tube. The carer touches the supporting straps and inserts both thumbs into the external joystick's funnel-shaped opening. The guides supplied make it considerably easier for the carer to operate the wheelchair (similar to a shopping trolley).

    Special table-operated version In the case of this table-operated version, the operating device is divided into four individual components. I.e. the joystick, key- board, display and LCD board are housed in separate enclosures. For disabled users only able to lay their hands flat on the table, the joystick is attached suspended to facilitate operation.

  • Page 43 CUSTOM-MADE EXTERNAL KEYBOARDS Various operating modes: Can be selected via switches 1 and 2 in the universal interface box. These various operating modes are only available as of software status April 2000. (please refer to the label on the micro-controller in the universal interface). Operating mode 1: Both switches at OFF means that the buttons are being evaluated as an external keyboard, (please refer to the Mini joystick operating instructions).

    SPECIAL JOYSTICK The special joystick is a very small and short joystick which is easy to move. And it permits the wheelchair to be driven very easily and precisely. This special joystick is eminently suitable for disabled users with limited strength and little mobility. It can be operated by the hand, finger or chin.
