Hold (1) Messages (Control Change No. 64)
Conveys the action of a damper pedal (whether it is depressed or released), which allows notes
that are already sounding to be sustained.
<TX> An ON message is sent when the pedal (a damper pedal, such as the optional DP-2;
connected to the Pedal jack on the unit's rear) is depressed, and an OFF message is sent when it
is released.
<RX> When a Hold ON message is received, notes already sounding will be sustained.
Naturally decaying sounds (such as the piano) will fade gradually until the Hold OFF message is
received, whereas sounds such as the organ (which normally are sustained) will continue
sounding until the arrival of the Hold OFF message.

same moment will be sustained. Naturally decaying sounds (such as the piano) will fade
gradually until the Sostenuto OFF is received, whereas sounds such as the organ (which
normally are sustained) will continue sounding until the arrival of the Sostenuto OFF message.
Soft Messages (Control Change No. 67)
A soft pedal is a pedal that causes notes already sounding to become softer. This message
conveys the action of this kind of pedal (whether it is depressed or released).
<RX> When a Soft ON is received, the cut-off frequency is lowered, and sounding notes are
made softer. The sound returns to normal when a Soft OFF is received.
