Modulation Messages (Control Change No. 1)
<TX> Describe the amount of modulation that is being applied. This amount is controlled by
pressing the Modulation key after the Pitch Bend/Modulation feature has been turned ON (
SOLO Volume, p. 19); or by depressing an Expression pedal that has been connected and
assigned the Modulation function (
<RX> Cause the vibrato effect to be applied when received. If you employ Exclusive messages
(
MIDI Implementation p. 50) to set this effect, you can have the cut-off frequency or volume
be modulated instead of the pitch.
Volume Messages (Control Change No. 7)
Convey the volume level of the Parts.
<RX> Produce a change in the Part's volume.
Expression Messages (Control Change No. 11)
Convey the changes that occur in the volume.
<TX> The value is sent whenever you depress an Expression pedal that has been connected
and assigned the Expression function (
<RX> Causes an alteration in the volume.
* The actual volume obtained from a Part can be altered by both Volume Messages (Control
Change No. 7) and Expression Messages (Control Change No. 11). The volume for a Part will
be reduced to zero if a value of "0" is carried by either one of these messages. Keep this in
mind if you should ever have difficulty obtaining the expected volume, even when the value
for one of these messages has been raised considerably—the other message could be at a
value of "0."
Panpot Messages (Control Change No. 10)
Convey the Pan position (orientation of the sound image during stereo output) for the Parts.
<RX> Cause a change in the Pan position for the Parts (
setting cannot be selected using these messages.
