12.0 FUNCTION KNOB AND SELECT
SWITCH
The FUNCTION KNOB includes fi ve separate on-screen
listings of programming selections, plus QUICK SCAN
REVERSE. Selection is made with the SELECT SWITCH
while the sonar is running. The six functions follow:
12.1 SPEED
Function 1- SPEED BOX highlighted, left of screen.
By pressing up or down on the SELECT SWITCH,
you can select one of twelve scanning speeds for sonar
and one of three speeds for bottom profi le. Each mode
can have its own scanning speed.
Example: In SPLIT SCREEN the sonar can be set to
Speed Six for fast long range search. Select Speed One
in bottom profi le for high bottom resolution. When
changing speed, the soundbeam must be in the Sonar
Screen to make changes for sonar. The soundbeam must
be in the Profi le Screen to make changes for Profi le.
VERTICAL PROFILE (THICKNESS) MODE al-
ways scans at Speed One, High Resolution.
Note: In the sonar mode the Scan Speed numbers will
turn red when the soundbeam from consecutive transmits
no longer overlap.
Example: For the 160 kHz soundome, a scanning speed
of 4 will give 100% horizontal coverage. At Speed Five
the soundbeam will move between transmits greater
than the soundbeam will cover, leaving part of the water
column undetected.
12.2 POWER
