icons start to move to the right of the screen. Informa-
tion as to: range to the fi sh and bearing to the fi sh from
the vessel will be displayed in the fi sh box to the right
of the screen. Also, speed and direction of the fi sh is
displayed in the lower half of the fi sh box.
When tracking is engaged, range and bearing will dis-
play on a green background for 10 minutes. After 10
minutes the background will change to yellow, also for
10 minutes. After 10 minutes of yellow, the background
will change to red. When twenty minutes have passed,
tracking will stop. Caution: The computer cannot ac-
commodate the uncertainty of fi sh travel or affects of
water currents.
This color change over time is to alert the operator that
the expected path or calculated path of the fi sh may vary,
due to change in direction or speed of the fi sh.
Each track is entered into a log located in Menu 4. Date,
time, latitude, and longitude are entered at the top of
the log. When the log is full the last entry at the bottom
will disappear. To discontinue a track sequence, lift up
the track switch for the third time. All track information
will disappear and the fi shlupe will return.
11.2 VERTICAL PROFILE (THICK-
<
NESS)
As the soundbeam in sonar passes through a school of
fi sh, push down on the TRACK SWITCH. An overlay
screen equal to a fourth of the screen will show a vertical
profi le or thickness of the school of fi sh.
When vertically scanning, the BEARING KNOB will
reposition the vertical scan. By moving the bearing line
over the target, the vertical profi le view will show the
thickness of the leading edge, center and trailing edge
of the school of fi sh.
VERTICAL PROFILE starts at 0 degree tilt and steps
the transducer in 1.8 degree increments in the vertical
plane down to -90 degrees. To sector the profi le for fast
target update, press up on the TILT SWITCH. The sec-
tor will move up from the vertical in 10 degree steps.
For quick scan reverse, set Function Switch to Position
