Hardware-Component Replacement
Replacing a Power Supply on Alteon Application Switch 4416, 5224, 5224
XL, 5412, or 5412 XL
Dual power supplies are hot-swappable.
To replace a power supply on Alteon Application Switches 4416, 5224, 5224 XL, 5412,
or 5412 XL
1. Turn off the device.
Note: If you are replacing a power supply and the device is operating under power from
the second power supply, there is no need to turn off the device.
2. Disconnect the power cable from the faulty power supply.
3. Remove the screw that secures the faulty power supply to the chassis.
4. Remove the faulty power supply from the device.
5. Insert the new power supply into the device.
6. Insert and tighten the screw that secures the new power supply to the chassis.
7. Connect the power cable to the new power supply.
Replacing the Compact Flash on Alteon Application Switch 4416, 5224,
5224 XL, 5412, or 5412 XL
You can replace the Compact Flash (CF) on Alteon Application Switches 4416, 5224, 5224 XL, 5412,
or 5412 XL.
Note: You cannot replace the Compact Flash (CF) on Alteon Application Switch 4408.
To replace the Compact Flash on Alteon Application Switches 4416, 5224, 5224 XL,
5412, or 5412 XL
1. Turn off the device.
2. Unscrew the Compact Flash cover and remove the old Compact Flash.
3. Install the new Compact Flash.
4. Close the cover and switch on the device.
5. Re-install the Alteon using the USB recovery procedure as described in
Application Switches 4408, 4416, 5224, 5224 XL, 5412, and 5412 XL, page
