The tyre monitoring system compares the rotations and by this, the outside
diameter of each wheel using the ABS sensors. If the outside diameter of one
wheel changes, this is communicated to the driver by the tyre control indi-
cator
. The outside diameter of the tyre will vary when:
Tyre pressure is insufficient.
The tyre structure is damaged.
The vehicle is uneven due to the load.
The wheels on one axle are loaded more than the other (for example,
when driving with a trailer or on extreme slopes).
The vehicle is fitted with snow chains.
The emergency wheel is fitted.
A wheel on one axle has been changed.
Tyre pressure adjustment
After modifications to the tyre pressure or changing one or more wheels, the

button must be held in, with the ignition on, until an
acoustic signal is heard.
If the wheels are subject to an excessive load (for example, using a trailer or
a heavy load) then the tyre pressure must be adjusted to correspond to the
recommended value for full vehicle load (see the adhesive on the inside of
the fuel tank filler cover). If the tyre monitoring system button is pressed, the
new pressure value is confirmed.
The tyre monitor indicator
If the tyre pressure of one wheel is significantly lower than the value set by
the driver then the tyre monitoring system indicator will light ⇒

If the tyre monitor indicator flashes, this indicates a fault. See the nearest

Handling instructions
WARNING
When the tyre monitor indicator lights, reduce speed immediately and
avoid sudden turning or braking manoeuvre. Stop as soon as possible and
check tyre pressure and status.
The driver is responsible for the correct tyre pressure. For this reason,
the tyre pressure must be checked regularly.
Under certain circumstances (for example, aggressive driving style, in
winter conditions or dirt tracks) the tyre pressure indicator may light, may
indicate with delay or may not function.
Note
If the battery is disconnected then the yellow indicator
ignition is turned on. After a short period, it should turn off.
