Checking and refilling levels
containing additives. These additives will help to prevent corrosion, keep the
fuel system clean and prevent deposits from building up in the engine.
If good quality petrol with additives is not available or engine problems occur,
the required additives must be added during refuelling.

Diesel

Diesel*
Diesel fuel must correspond to DIN EN 590 (EN = "European standard"). It
must have a cetane number (CN) of at least 51. The cetane number indicates
the ignition quality of the diesel fuel.
Notes on filling with fuel ⇒ page 190.
RME fuel (Biodiesel)*
Only vehicles fitted with special equipment (PR 2G0 for
biodiesel use) can run using biodiesel according to the DIN
EN 14214 standard.
Diesel fuel must comply with the DIN EN 14,214 Standard (FAME).
Biodiesel is a methylester obtained from rapeseed oil.
DIN is a German abbreviation of " D eutsches I nstitut für N ormug e.V.",
the German Standardisation Institute.
EN means E for European and N for Norm or Standard.
FAME is an English abbreviation of " Fatty Acid Methyl Ester".
If the datasheet of your vehicle mentions the number PR 2G0 (optional equip-
ment) this means that the vehicle is prepared by the manufacturer for the use
of biodiesel.
Your Authorised Service Centre or automobile association will be able to
advise on where you can obtain RME biodiesel fuel.
The Authorised Service Centre may also be consulted to discover if the vehicle
is prepared for biodiesel use.
Things to note about RME fuel (biodiesel)
The performance of a vehicle running on biodiesel may be lower than
normal.
The fuel consumption of a vehicle operating with boidiesel may be
slightly higher.
RME fuel is resistant to temperatures as low as -10°C approx.
At outside temperatures below -10° C, we recommend using winter diesel
fuel.
Caution
RME fuel (Biodiesel) can damage the fuel system in vehicles which are not
adapted.
If you decide to use biodiesel in your vehicle, please use only RME fuel
which is DIN E 14,214 compliant.
If you use biodiesel that does not meet the required standard, the fuel
filter could become clogged.
Note
In case of low outside temperatures and with a percentage biodiesel
higher than 50%, during independent heating operation, the exhaust gas
flow may increase in the exhaust pipe.
The fuel filter may be obstructed if a change is made from diesel to
biodiesel. For this reason, we recommend that, after about 300 or 400 Km,
