Insert the Cat 5 cable(s) into the connector(s):

Install the Kensington lock, if you plan to use one.

d. Rotate the key right or left to secure the lock to the AP.

Connecting an Access Point to the Network

You can connect an access point to the network via a switch that provides PoE, or to the network 
with a PoE power injector.
1.
Insert the Cat 5 cable with a standard RJ‐45 connector. For connection to an access point, use a 
straight‐through cable.
2.
When the link is activated, observe the AP LED for the port on the switch:
AP LED Appearance
Solid green
Alternating green and amber
Solid amber
Blinking amber
Unlit
For a single connection, use the connector for port 1.
For redundancy, insert one cable into each connector. 
Loop the Kensington lock's cable around an object that cannot be moved or damaged by a 
person pulling on the cable.
Insert the Kensington lock into the security slot on the AP.
Pull on the lock to verify that it is secured to the AP.
Remove the key.
Meaning
For an access point's active link, all the following are true:
• AP
• AP
• Management link with an AP is operational.
• At least one radio is enabled or is in sentry mode.
For an AP's secondary link, the link is present.
AP is booting with an image received from the switch. After the access point
boots and receives its configuration, this LED appearance persists until a
radio is enabled or is placed in sentry mode.
PoE is on.
AP
PoE is off.
has booted.
 
has received a valid configuration from the switch.
 
is unresponsive or there is a PoE problem.
