Fresh Water System
Make a chlorine solution by mixing two ounces
of household chlorine bleach in a gallon of
water. This mixture will treat approximately
fifteen gallons.
If the water tank on your
boat is larger or smaller than 15 gallons, then
adjust the mixture accordingly. Always mix
the chlorine with water in a separate container
first and never add straight chlorine to the
fresh water tank.
Fill the water tank half full with fresh water and
pour the mixture into the water tank. Top off
the tank.
Activate the system and allow the water to run
for about one minute at each faucet. Let the
treated water stand for 4-6 hours.
Drain the system by pumping it dry and flush
with several tank fills of fresh water.
The system should now be sanitized and can be
filled with fresh water. If the chlorine smell is
still strong, it should be flushed several more
times with fresh water.
CAUTION
THE BATTERIES MUST BE PROPERLY CHARGED. OPERATING
THE FRESH WATER PUMP FROM A BATTERY WITH A LOW
CHARGE MAY LEAD TO A PUMP FAILURE.
NOTICE:
The quality of the water in marine fresh
water systems can be questionable.
recommend that you avoid using the water
from the fresh water system for drinking and
cooking. You should only use bottled water
for these purposes.
The fresh water system must be properly
winterized prior to winter lay-up. See sec-
tion on winterizing.
