OPERATION
7.2 OPERATOR PRESENCE AND SAFETY INTERLOCK SYSTEM
1.
The engine can be started but drive cannot be engaged until the operator presence system has
been engaged. When the primary drive is engaged the machine will move forward, the cylinder will
only rotate if the cylinder clutch is engaged. When the operator presence lever is released the
engine will stop.
2.
Perform each of the following tests to ensure the operator presence system is functioning properly.
Stop the test and have the system inspected and repaired if any of the tests fail as listed below:
With the engine running, the gears in the neutral position and the operator presence lever released,
the machine should not move forward and the cylinder should not rotate.
Engage the operator presence lever (see 6.1) and engage the cylinder clutch, once the machine is
moving release the operator presence lever. The machine and all drives should come to a stop, the
engine will also stop running.
3.
Refer to the chart below for each test and follow the check () marks across the chart. Shut engine
off between each test.
Test1: With engine running and neutral gear selected depress emergency stop button. The engine
should stop running and all functions will be disabled until the emergency stop is reset.
Test 2: (This simulates normal cutting operation) With the engine running, operator presence lever
engaged, the forward gear selected and the cylinder clutch engaged. The cylinder should rotate and
the machine will be driven forward.
Test 3: With the engine running and the cylinder clutch engaged. Releasing the operator presence
lever will stop the engine and all drives.
Test 4: (This simulates transportation of the machine) With the engine running and the cylinder
clutch disengaged and the transmission engaged. When the operator presence lever is engaged the
cylinder will not rotate and the machine will be driven forward.
Test 5: With all drives in neutral the engine can be started, engaging the operator presence lever
should not cause the machine to move forward nor the cylinder to rotate
