Recording From the Radio

You can record from the tuner onto a tape. Use TYPE I
(normal) or TYPE II (CrO2) tapes for recording.

Press EJECT § on the right speaker and insert a
blank tape into the tape deck, with the side you
want to record facing forward.
Make sure the tabs on the cassette have not been
removed.

Click FUNCTION in the main menu.

Click TUNER.

Tune in the radio station you want to record. See
"Listening to the Radio" for details.

Click SUB.

Click REC EDIT.

Click d repeatedly to select how to record the
tape.
To record
One side of the tape
Both sides*
* Recording always stops at the end of the reverse
side. Be sure to start from the front side.

Click DOLBY NR to select "DOLBY NR: B" or
"DOLBY NR: C" when you want to reduce tape
hiss in low-level, high- frequency signals.

Click REC.
"REC" appears and the tape deck enters recording
pause mode. The direction indicator in the REC
EDIT control panel (() indicates the direction in
which recording will start.
If you want to record on the reverse side only
Click 9 so that 9 appears.

Click P, in the REC EDIT control panel, to release
recording pause. Recording starts.
You can also start recording by clicking ( or 9.
To stop recording
Click p in the REC EDIT control panel.
To insert a blank space
See "Inserting a Blank Space During Recording (rec mute)"
on page 56.

Operating the Tape Deck Using OSD
To return to the previous menu
Click RETURN or press RETURN on the remote control.
To exit to the main menu.
Click EXIT or press EXIT on the remote control.
Note
Adjusting the volume will not effect the recording level.
But this will change the sound levels you hear through the
speakers or headphones.
