Installing/removing power supplies

WARNING!
• To avoid bodily injury and device damage, strictly follow the procedures in
29Figure 29
• Provide a separate circuit breaker for each power supply.
The HPE 5950 32QSFP28 and HPE 5950 48SFP28 8QSFP28 switches each have two power
supply slots.The HPE 5950 4-slot switch has four power supply slots. The HPE 5950 32QSFP28 and
HPE 5950 48SFP28 8QSFP28 switches come with one power supply slot empty and one installed
with a filler panel. The HPE 5950 4-slot switch comes with two power supply slots empty and two
installed with filler panels.. You can install power supplies for the switch as required.

Installing a power supply

CAUTION:
• Follow the forward inertia of the power supply when inserting it into the chassis, and make sure
the power supply has firm contact with the connectors on the backplane.
• To prevent damage to the connectors inside the switch chassis, insert the power supply gently. If
you encounter a hard resistance while inserting the power supply, pull out the power supply and
insert it again.
The 650W AC power supply and 650W DC power supply installation procedure is the same on the
HPE 5950 switches. The figures in this section use the HPE 5950 32QSFP28 switch as an example.
