1. Connecting to the Computer
With the Windows platform, the first step is to connect the scanner to the
computer. Please position the scanner in a safe and stable location as described in
Setup and Operating Conditions (p. 9).

Confirm that the power switches for the computer
and other connected devices are off.
If the power is on, shut down the computer and peripheral devices in
that order.

Confirm that the scanning unit has been unlocked
(p. 13).
• Make sure to unlock the scanner before plugging the USB cable
into the computer's USB port. If left locked, a malfunction or
problems may occur.

3.
Connect the scanner to the computer with the
supplied USB cable.
The computer end of the cable has a wide flat connector while the
scanner end has a small square connector.
