Printing Modes
The HP-18C has two printing modes-manual and trace. Manual
mode is used when you don't want anything printed, or when you
want to specify exactly what will be printed. In manual mode, you
can choose to print:
• The contents of the calculator line.
• A descriptive note or label.
• The values stored in registers 0, 1, 2, and 3.
• A copy of the first three lines of the
display.
• The current date and time.
• Values of built-in variables stored and calculated using menus.
• Values of user-variables stored and calculated using custom menus.
• A number list.
• An amortization table.
Trace mode is used when you want a complete record of the numbers
you've keyed in, the calculated results, and the other keys you've
pressed.
To switch between trace mode and manual mode:

The Print Annunciator
The print annunciator (0) is on when the HP-18C is sending in-
formation out through the infra-read printer port. The calculator has
no way of knowing whether the printer is receiving the infra-red
signal.
