To get a different list of the same type:
1. Press

. The GET menu contains a menu label for each
named list of that type (see figure 7-1), plus

2. Press the appropriate menu key. Pressing

displays a new,
empty list.
Figure 7-2 illustrates switching between two number lists named
JANCHECKS and FEBCHECKS, creating a new list, and naming that
list. Notice that you cannot switch from a nameless list. If your cur-
rent list contains numbers and is nameless, pressing a menu key in
the GET menu displays:
CURRENT LIST UNNAMED;
NAME OR CLEAR THE LIST
and the HP-18C returns to the previous menu. To name the list, press

To clear the list, press

If pressing

causes the HP-18C to display the message I NSUFF I C I ENT MEMORY
and an abbreviated GET menu (there will be only one menu label and no

label), you
should exit the GET menu, complete any arithmetic (calculator line) calculations you were in
the process of doing (press

and then try pressing

again. If there is
still insufficient memory to display the entire GET menu, the HP-18C displays one menu
label (list name). If this is not the list you want, press the menu key and then press

again to display another list name. Continue this procedure until you've switched to the
desired list.
