Why Emission Control Maintenance
A clean e n v i r o n m e n t is of concern to all of us. P o r s c h e h a s built an
efficient emission control system into your car, using genuine
Porsche parts, in conformance with the Federal Clean Air Act. To
help keep our air clean, you can do your part by providing regular
maintenance for the emission control system in your car.
At 500 - 2000 miles / 800 - 3200 km*
D u r i n g the first 5 0 0 - 2 000 miles/800 - 3 200 km all working parts
adjust to each other to a certain degree. Therefore, components
that are essential for the properfunctioning of the emission control
system, such as engine idle speed, should be checked, and ad-
justed if necessary.
The engine oil and oil filter should be replaced.
9 1 1 Carrera, 9 1 1 Turbo: The adjustment of the valves should be
checked and, if necessary, corrected.
E v e r y 7500 miles / 1 2 0 0 0 km*
To provide good lubrication and to keep the engine internally clean,
the oil for the 9 1 1 T u r b o and 944 Turbo should b e changed e v e r y
7 500 m i l e s /12 000 km ( o r at l e a s t e v e r y 12 months), and the oil f i l -
ter should be replaced.
Every 15000 miles / 24000 km*
To p r o v i d e good lubrication and to k e e p the engine internally clean,
the oil should be changed every 15000 miles / 24000 km (or at
least every 12 months), and the oil filter should be replaced.
9 1 1 Carrera, 9 1 1 Turbo: The adjustment of the valves should be
checked and, if necessary, corrected.

Every 30000 miles / 48000 km*
C o m p l e t e burning of the fuel/air m i x t u r e in the combustion chamb-
ers is very important to keep harmful emissions at their lowest le-
vels. It also keeps your Porsche running most economically. To
k e e p it that w a y , the spark plugs m u s t fire properly to e n s u r e g o o d
engine performance. They should now be replaced.
Tension and condition of V-belt and Drive-belt, important for proper
engine cooling, should be checked, and adjusted if necessary.
To assure free and uninhibited flow of air to the engine, the a i r filter
cartridge should be replaced at this time. If you operate your
Porsche mainly on dusty roads, it may be necessary to replace the
filter element more often.
928 S 4, 9 1 1 Turbo: The filter element for air pump should be re-
placed at this time.
Any deficiencies found should be corrected.
Important: Only use replacement parts, fuels and oils that meet
Porsche specifications.
