Online Insertion and Removal

After the SPA is properly seated, fasten the SPA in place with the captive screws, as shown in

Removing a SPA from a SIP

The system can indicate a hardware failure if you do not follow proper procedures or you remove a SPA
Caution
while the software configuration is being applied. After installing a SPA, wait at least 30 seconds before
attempting to remove it. After you remove a SPA, wait at least 15 seconds before installing another SPA
in the same subslot.

Online Insertion and Removal

Cisco ASR 14000 Series Router SIPs and SPAs support online insertion and removal (OIR). SPAs can
be inserted or removed independently from the SIP. Online insertion and removal of a SIP with installed
SPAs is also supported.
