• The settings for the exposure can be specified in increments
of 1/3 EV steps. In [1 EV Steps] of the E1 menu, you can
change the adjustment steps to 1/2 EV steps.
• In L mode, the difference from the correct exposure is
displayed on the EV bar scale while the exposure is adjusted.
• For each exposure mode (excluding M mode), you can set
the camera operation for when Q or R is turned or M
is pressed. Set in [E-Dial Programming] of [Button

• In I or J mode, you can take pictures while automatically
changing shutter speed and aperture value. (p.67, p.68)

• The correct exposure may not be obtained with the selected
shutter speed and aperture value when the sensitivity is fixed

Reducing Noise when Shooting with a
Slow Shutter Speed
When shooting with a slow shutter speed, you can reduce
image noise in [Slow Shutter Speed NR] of [Noise Reduction] in
the A2 menu.
Applies Noise Reduction according to the shutter
Auto speed, sensitivity, and internal temperature of the
camera.
Applies Noise Reduction when the shutter speed is
On
slower than 1 second.
Off Does not apply Noise Reduction at any shutter speed.
Setting the Exposure Control Method
In [Program Line] of the A1 menu, you can specify how the
exposure is controlled.
A Auto Determines the appropriate settings.
Sets to the basic program automatic
B Standard
exposure (all-around mode).
Hi-speed
C Prioritizes high shutter speeds.
Priority
DOF Priority Closes the aperture for a deep depth of

(Deep) field.
DOF Priority Opens the aperture for a shallow depth of

(Shallow) field.
Sets the sharpest aperture of the attached
F MTF Priority lens when a DA, DA L, D FA, FA J, or FA
lens is used.
