4.6 Operational checks

DANGER
Components are moving or rotating.
Risk of crushing, danger of parts of the body being caught or pulled in!
• Operate the engine at low load only. Keep clear of the danger zone of the engine.
WARNING
High level of engine noise when the engine is running.
Risk of damage to hearing!
• Wear ear protectors.
Operational checks

Operation log (if provided)
Engine under load,
engine at nominal speed
Measure
Check machine room for smell of gas (→ Page 163).
Check for fault messages;
If fault messages are displayed: Determine the cause, rectify the fault.
Check indicated operating parameters (speed, temperatures, pressures)
Document operating parameters.
• This is especially useful for fault localization and fast remedial action.
Check engine/plant and all pipework visually for leaks, rectify any leaks with
the engine stopped;
Check for abnormal running noises and vibration.
