Energy-saving mode
In energy-saving mode, the RWM MC is
switched off when it is inactive for 10 sec-
onds. A countdown shows the time re-
maining until the device is switched off.
An acoustic signal tells you when the
countdown begins.
During the countdown, you can switch
back to stand-by mode by pressing the
Start button.
Stand-by mode
After switching on or after the reading out
of the smoke alarm device is finished, the
device goes into stand-by mode.
Test mode
During the readout of a smoke alarm de-
vice, you are in test mode. To do this, the
RWM MC and smoke alarm device must
be connected and switched on.

4 Commissioning

4.1 Insert batteries
The batteries (2 x AAA, 1.5 V) are includ-
ed in the scope of delivery and must be
inserted in the RWM MC before commis-
sioning. Proceed as follows:
(1) Open the battery compartment
cover of the RWM MC
(2) Insert batteries into the battery
compartment
(3) Close the battery compartment
4.2 Connect the adapter cable
Before you can connect the device with
the smoke alarm device, you must con-
nect the adapter cable to the RWM MC:
f Insert the RJ plug of the adapter ca-
ble in the connection socket of the
RWM MC until it clicks in audibly

5 Operation

5.1 Switch on the RWM MC
Switch on the RWM MC as follows:
f Press and hold the Start button for
3 seconds
Two signal tones
5 Type, version number, manufacturer,
and year of manufacture of the
RWM MC are shown.
5 The device is switched on and is in
stand-by mode.
5.2 Connect the RWM MC to the
smoke alarm device
Reading out of the smoke alarm device
first requires a connection between the
RWM MC and the smoke alarm device.
Establish the connection as follows:
(1) Remove the Test/Stop button
(smoke alarm device cover)
f Observe the operating manual for
the smoke alarm device

CAUTION
Material damage through bending!
The triangular plug of the adapter
cable is easily damaged, e.g. through
bending.
f Do not touch the contact pins of
the triangular plug.
f Before inserting, check the triangu-
lar plug and the slot on the smoke
alarm device for contamination
as well as for possible interfering
edges and remove them.
f Pay attention to ease of movement
when inserting the triangular plug in
the slot on the smoke alarm device.
(2) Remove the protective cap of the
triangular plug of the adapter cable
(3) Carefully insert the triangular plug of
the adapter cable into the triangular
slot on the smoke alarm device
