Simple troubleshooting
Problem
Coffee is too "bitter".
The water filter does not
stay in position in the water
tank (16).
The coffee grounds are not
compact and are too wet.
I
LED
flashes.
Coffee or milk froth quality
varies widely.
Water dripped onto the in­
ner floor of the appliance
when the drip tray (8) was
removed.
I
LED
lights up.

Cause
The grind setting is too fine
or the pre­ground coffee is
too fine.
Unsuitable type of coffee.
The water filter is not fitted
correctly.
The grind setting is too
fine or too coarse, or not
enough ground coffee has
been used.
Brewing unit (5) is soiled.
Too much pre­ground cof­
fee in the brewing unit (5).
The brewing unit mecha­
nism is stiff.
Build­up of limescale in the
appliance.
Drip tray (8) removed too
soon.
Brewing unit (5) is missing
or has not been detected.
Remedy
Adjust the grinding unit to
a coarser setting or use
coarser pre­ground coffee.
Change the type of coffee.
Firmly press the water filter
straight down into the tank
connection.
Adjust the grinding unit to
a coarser or finer setting,
or use 2 level measuring
spoons of ground coffee.
Cleaning the brewing
unit (5).
Clean the brewing unit (5)
(Put in no more than 2
level measuring spoons of
ground coffee).
Remove the brewing unit
and treat with a special
grease intended for this
purpose (order no. 311368),
see "Maintenance and daily
cleaning".
Descale the appliance with
two descaling tablets as de­
scribed in the instructions.
Wait a few seconds after
the last drink was dis­
pensed before removing the
drip tray (8).
Switch off the appliance
with the brewing unit (5) in
place, wait three seconds
and switch on the appliance
again.
