O-31 or larger track.
Plug the five-pin connector into
the back of the locomotive. Note
that the connector is keyed to fit only
one way. Insert the drive shaft into the
coupling on the locomotive. Carefully
turn over the locomotive and tender,
resting them on a soft surface to
prevent damage to the finish. Remove
the screw that is screwed into the
boss on the bottom of the locomotive.
Slide the drawbar from the tender over the boss. Reinstall the screw to hold the
drawbar in place. With track power off, place the locomotive and tender on the track.
Couple the locomotive to the tender before operating the locomotive. Uncoupled,
Note!
the drive shaft may drag and short circuit the track.
For proper operation through O-31 curves and switches, we
recommend that you allow plenty of slack in the tether cable that
runs between the locomotive and tender. Refer to Figure 2 to determine the
proper amount of slack and gently pull the tether cable out of the tender as needed.
Be sure that the tether cable slack is arched upward between the locomotive and
tender, otherwise the tender will not track straight behind the locomotive. If you
still have difficulties operating your Heisler through O-31 curves and switches, you
may need to increase or decrease the amount of slack in the tether cable.
