Replacing your tender's lamp

Y
our tender is illuminated by one lamp.
This lamp is illuminated only when the
locomotive is in reverse. To replace the lamp,
remove the tender body by unscrewing the
four body screws and the two truck screws
located on the underside of the tender (see
Figure 5 on page 10 for the screw locations).
After removing the body and truck screws,
slide back the truck to remove the coupler
from the rear pilot beam, then lift the frame
away from the body. Be careful with the wires
that connect the truck, frame, and body.
Grasp the leads and pull the lamp out of
the back-up light housing where it is held in

Pull the leads and expired lamp out through
the hole in the top of the tender body. Unplug
the connector and replace the lamp with
Lionel part no. 620-8029-300. All lamps are
available from your authorized Lionel Service
Center or direct from Lionel Service. See the
Lionel Service section on page 24 for more
information.
Reassemble your tender in reverse order.
Make sure all wires are inside the body
before the screws are tightened. Note that the
two small ladders are held in place by the
two rear body screws.
