Item/components and probable

1 Engine startability.
2 Connections
• Starter relay coupler
• ABS ECU coupler
• Right handlebar switch coupler
3 Open or short circuit in wire harness.
ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM)
Start switch signal is not received properly
Symptom (start switch circuit or start switch monitor cir-
cuit).
Check or maintenance job
Check the electric starting sys-
tem.
Refer to "ELECTRIC STARTING
SYSTEM" on page 8-11.
• Check the coupler for any pins
that may be pulled out.
• Check the locking condition of
the coupler.
• If there is a malfunction, repair it
and connect the coupler
securely.
TIP
Turn the main switch to "OFF"
before disconnecting or connect-
ing a coupler.
• Repair or replace if there is an
open or short circuit.
• Between ABS ECU coupler and
starter relay coupler.
(Blue/white–Blue/white)
• Between ABS ECU coupler and
right handlebar switch (start
switch) coupler.
(White/blue–Blue/white)

Reinstatement
confirmation
method
• Push the start
switch and
check that the
engine starts.
• Turn the main
switch to "ON"
and check
that the ABS
warning light
comes on for
2 seconds,
then goes off.
• Check that the
ABS warning
light comes on
while the start
switch is being
pushed.
