3. Connect the other end of the ground wire to the office ground conductor. Ensure this
connection is made using methods and hardware that meets all applicable local and
national electrical codes.

Desk Top Installation

1. Remove protective adhesive backing from the four feet. Position a foot on each bottom
corner of the set top unit. Press these firmly on to the set top unit.
2. Locate the OptEnet Media Converter so that there is access to the front and rear.
3. Connect the power supply to the DC IN connector located on the back of the OptEnet
Converter Set Top Unit.
a. If using AC power, connect the power supply to the AC line source (110 – 240 VAC,
50 – 60 Hz).
b. If using DC power, connect power following local practices. See

4. Verify that the POWER LED is lit.

Surface Mount Installation

An optional OptEnet Media Converter mounting bracket provides a number of options when
securing the OptEnet Media Converter to a vertical or horizontal surface. OptEnet Media
Converters can be installed facing up, down, right, or left when mounted on a vertical surface. The
same mounting bracket is also used to secure the OptEnet Media Converter to the bottom of a
work surface.
Note: Allow six inches (15.3 cm) on both ends of the OptEnet Set Top Ethernet Media
Converter for cable access.
1. Locate the set top unit so that there is access to the front and rear.
2. Using the mounting bracket as a template mark and drill holes in the mounting surface.
3. Secure mounting bracket to surface with #10 screws appropriate for the surface material.
4. Align the slots on the rear face of the set top unit with the mounting bracket. See
Slide OptEnet Media Converter into the mounting bracket.
5. Connect the power supply to the DC IN connector located on the back of the OptEnet
Converter Set Top Unit.
a. If using AC power, connect the power supply to the AC line source (110 – 240 VAC,
50 – 60 Hz).

6. Verify that the POWER LED is lit.
