3 INSTALLATION
Danger: Infrared radiation is invisible and can seriously damage the retina of the eye. Do not
look into the ends of any optical fiber
When using the mounting bracket allow six inches (15.3 cm) on both ends of the OptEnet Set
Top Unit for cable access.
Install the OptEnet Set Top Unit using the following procedure:
3.1
Unpacking and Inspection
1. Inspect the exterior of the shipping container(s) for evidence of rough handling that may
have damaged the components in the container.
2. Unpack set top unit (and power supply) carefully check for damage and verify with the
packing slip. If any item is damaged, consult ADC for repair, replacement, and warranty
information. Even though no damage is evident, save the shipping container for use if the
equipment requires shipment at a future date.
3. File a claim with the commercial carrier and notify ADC Customer Service if damage is
detected or if parts are missing. Save damaged cartons for inspection by the carrier.

3.2
Desk Top Installation
1. Remove protective adhesive backing from the four feet. Position a foot on each bottom
corner of the set top unit. Press these firmly on to the set top unit.
2. Locate the OptEnet Converter Set Top Unit so that there is access to the front and rear.
Link LEDs and fiber connections are located on the front. Power Led, power connection,
and Alarm LED are located on the rear.
3. Connect the power supply to the DC IN connector located on the back of the OptEnet
Converter Set Top Unit.
a. If using AC power, connect the power supply to the AC line source (110 – 240 VAC,
50 – 60 Hz).

4. Verify that the POWER LED is lit.
3.3
Surface Mount Installation
An optional OptEnet Media Converter Set Top Unit mounting bracket provides a number of
options when securing the OptEnet Media Converter Set Top Unit to a vertical or horizontal
surface. OptEnet Media Converter Set Top Unit can be installed facing up, down, right, or left
